This is a twelve week program. Mentorship must be completed over three consecutive months.

If you have always dreamed of writing a book but can’t seem to actually put words on a page, or if you have already begun writing but find yourself struggling to remain committed to a particular project let me give you a push in the “write” direction. With this mentorship program, I will help aspiring and emerging authors gain confidence by developing daily writing rituals, building a solid writing craft foundation, and growing a strong authorial voice.

This is a relationship option meant to support an emerging or aspiring writer as they decide how they want to approach their authorial journey. It includes encouragement, regular conversation, emails, and limited editorial commentary in Track Changes. Writer Mentoring does not include in depth editing services, but sessions/emails will contain material and suggestions for how and why the writer can improve their writing practice and craft.

This mentor asks a lot of questions to get the writer thinking on their own. Expect to come out of the mentoring process with a stronger foundation and a new perspective but not necessarily a finished product.

Mentorship includes:

  • Brainstorming session via Zoom (2 hour maximum) where we will discuss up to 3 possible story ideas and determine which idea is the most commercially viable. Then, using shared Google docs we will outline your story’s beats.
  • 2 coaching/accountability calls per calendar month at thirty minutes each (a maximum of 6 calls over the twelve week mentoring period) either via Zoom, phone, etc. to check on progress and troubleshoot stumbling blocks.
  • Up to a total of 2 weekly accountability emails of average length (no more than 24 over the 3-month mentoring period) to check on progress and troubleshoot stumbling blocks.
  • 1 in-depth critique of the first 30 pages (up to 7500 words) of the manuscript to be submitted at the end of the 3-month mentoring period. Critique will include a 1-page analysis letter as well as comments in the manuscript pages delivered using Word Track Changes.

Mentee writer must submit a minimum number of new words/typewritten pages once per month determined by the genre and agreed upon in the initial mentorship contract.
